The Unicode Tundra is the primary arctic region of the Breach.
The Icelands are the frozen tundras north of Portal City, one of the furthest areas from civilization. It is unknown whether anyone actually lives out there. It is full of ice and snow and traveling the area requires much equipment. The further one goes, the more dangerous the trek, and death from the cold is altogether possible. It is among the largest areas in the Breach and contains the fewest, if any, citizens. There are some local creatures that are able to withstand the climate such as polar bears, penguins and seals, but then there's the occasional snow beast of some kind, usually well hidden and out-of-sight unless disturbed. During the winter months it is cold and dark, with the average temperature around −80 °C (−112 °F), sometimes dipping as low as −89.2 °C (−128.6 °F). The Icelands are a very windy area, with gales often reaching 48–97 km (30–60 miles) an hour.
Eastern areas are colder than their western counterparts because of the higher elevation. Weather fronts rarely penetrate far into the Icelands, leaving the center cold and dry. Despite the lack of precipitation over the central portion of the area, the ice there lingers for extended time periods. Heavy snowfalls are not uncommon on the coastal area of the Icelands, where snowfalls can reach up to 1.22 meters (48 in.) in 48 hours. Occasionally, you might spot an Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights) from time to time, which is quite the sight. Generally, the area is wrought with mountains and hillocks, making it difficult to access and travel in.
The icelands of the Breach do not see much activity save the standard weather patterns and occasional visitor. Their range might have shifted a bit since their formation, but they are a steady area.
